Which invitation is your fave?

B Studio Wedding Invitation- Website on Ipad Hello to all our readers- new and old!

Can I ask you something? Could you tell which invitation design of ours is your fave? I’m curious to know because I find it hard to pick my own favorites, but then again I’m biased because I created them all! =)

If you haven’t visited us in a while, head yourself to our website and let me know which designs take your fancy! Thank you so much in advance!

In the mood for love

Yes, can’t believe it’s February already and with V-day coming up in just 1 weeks time, we thought we’d get ourselves in the mood with a new love themed inspiration board!

Innovation not imitation- a word on online plagiarism

A topic I wanted to raise today is slightly different from my usual positive, up-beat topics/posts, and it all has to do with plagiarism- specifically online plagiarism. I’m talking about those unscrupulous people who copy and steal images and text from another website then claim it as their own, having no respect for the time and effort which has gone into producing that content. Frankly, it’s not just annoying, it’s illegal!

Sadly, it’s happening more and more in this industry. The funny thing is that in my case,  it is clients, other reputable businesses as well as strangers who usually approach me to alert me that ‘Company x’ has been copying my work, taken slabs of text directly off the website, etc. etc. I’m just so grateful to these people for taking the time to let me know, as if they hadn’t done so, I probably would be none the wiser.

Some people don’t realize or appreciate the time and effort that goes into designing each invitation, styling and photographing it, editing it, and making it look good for the website, Likewise it’s the same with text- you spend a big chunk of time writing and editing it, only to find it taken and used by another business! Intellectual property theft and breaches of copyrighted material are an offence which we must work together to stop!

All I have to say to those ‘businesses’ who who regularly visit/ stalk my website (and that of others) with the intention of stealing, is…

Innovation not Imitation…

If you want to be a competitor in the industry, you have to be unique and special and bring something different to the table. What is the point of re-using material which is already out there which people have already seen and read before? The average bride and groom visits a good number of different websites before making their decision on which business to use, so they are the ones who are most likely to spot a copy-cat! This certainly doesn’t leave a very good impression about the trustworthiness of your business. If you are uncertain about what is considered as ‘plagiarism’, please read up on it at: www. plagiarism.org

Above all, be yourself and create something which reflects your own style and write something which conveys your own voice. That’s the way to succeed in the long run…

Can’t believe it’s August already! Check out what we’ve been up to this month!

I can hardly believe that we’re already into the 8th month of this year! Where has time gone?!

I guess it is hard to keep track of time when you’re busy! There actually hasn’t been a quiet moment in the studio for many months now. We’ve been little busy bees getting all our orders made for our lovely Spring and Summer brides!

Unfortunately we don’t have the time to photograph all the projects we work on, however we do have pics of 2 projects we’ve been working on this month!

1. Madison & Lindsay’s “Love in Venice” invitations & handmade wraparound address labels!

Love in Venice stationery for Madison and Lindsay

Are you on Pinterest?

It’s been about 2 months since our last blog post (oops!) but we haven’t forgotten about our lovely readers (that’s you by the way=P)  we have just been uber busy over the past few months and have not been able to get back into blogging until now.

Now, I have a question for you….are you on Pinterest?

I was made aware of Pinterest quite some time ago, but never got around to checking it out until now. These days, there just seems to be too many different social media platforms to get into, and I wasn’t sure I had the time to fit in yet another one!

However, this week I finally got around to creating an account and having a look around, and what to do you know, it does get rather addictive!

If you’re not sure what Pinterest is, basically it’s a “virtual pin board” which lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, organize their favorite recipes and share other cool stuff they find on the web with each other!

Invitation Orders of the week

We often get so busy in the studio working on our invitation orders back-to-back, that we don’t get the time to photograph many of our customers orders. This week though, I made a conscious effort to try to take pictures of a few of the orders that we are currently working on, and display them on the blog. In the past week, we have been working on 3 special orders…***The first is for Gaela and Russell who ordered our deluxe “Grandeur” invitations (their invitation box set is pictured below)

The second order is for Gloria and Leigh who chose a special custom design featuring a metallic cream gate-fold card, lace and a large baby pink ribbon wrapped around the card and tied into a bow at the front. Their guests will have the pleasure of undoing the bow to open up their invitation. Cream and Baby Pink Custom Design for Gloria and Leigh

The third order is for Sara and Cheyne who ordered our (now discontinued) Love Garden invitation series ( pictured below).

This week has certainly been a busy one. In between orders, we also managed to re-vamp our website with a fresh new layout! Have a look and let us know what you think! =)

NEW handmade invitation- "Charmed by Love"

NEW handmade invitation “Charmed by Love”

Personally, I am a lover of handmade goods. Be it handmade jewellery, decorations, invitations…you name it. I have always appreciated and admired the time, effort and craftsmanship behind a well-made handmade item. Each piece is unique and special and knowing that my item wasn’t a mass-produced product churned out from a factory makes me cherish it that little bit more.

I know how much time and effort I put into creating each and every invitation for my customers and I do often try to picture the look on their faces when they receive their packages from me, and have a look at their invitation for the first time. I would imagine that it would be a look of delight and awe, and this is the response I strive to achieve with each and every piece of mine. This is another reason why I love handmade goods… I believe they can bring out feelings and emotions that oftentimes plain mass-produced products can’t.

Last month, I signed a pledge to support the handmade goods industry, vouching to buy handmade goods for myself and others where possible. Here is my plaque below:

It’s our 2-year birthday!

May 6th marks a special occasion for all of us at B Studio…it’s the day we, as a company, turn 2 years old!

My my! Aren’t we ageing rapidly! =)

Birthday candle

The past 2 years have honestly been such a whirlwind of fun, excitement, learning and growing! When we began, we only had a handful of stationery designs up on our website gallery and that gallery has since grown to 33 designs (and with many more to come in the near future), and not forgetting the large number of custom-made stationery creations we have had the honour of creating for our customers over the years! All in all, I’m proud of how far we have come as a business in a short space of time.

The best part of the business really is working with our brides (and a handful of grooms), hearing them rave about how beautiful their wedding stationery turned out, listening and sharing wedding plans and tips, and just overall, being part of the excitement and buzz that comes along with each and every wedding!

I want to thank each and every customer of ours for their lovely and kind words and feedback over the years, and for giving us the opportunity to do what we love, and that is to create gorgeous and elegant handmade stationery.

Thank you sooo so much! for your support! You have made the past 2 years absolutely fantastic! We hope to continually do what we love doing for many years to come!

Love,

Belinda xox

2 GREAT wedding tools I found online- plus they’re FREE too!

Recently, I stumbled across these 2 rather cool wedding tools…

The first is a Wedding Countdown Ticker!

It lets you create a wedding countdown widget in a matter of seconds, which counts down the days until your wedding! You can then embed the counter into your wedding blog, website, forum signature, emails, etc.

There’s plenty of nice designs to choose from! Here is one sample counter that I made myself!

Another cool wedding tool is The Wedding Mapper.

This site lets you create your own wedding map which you can send to your guests showing them where your ceremony, reception, etc. are located. Worth having a little play around with!
